I used a PreZi to present to my principal and the two other eighth grade English teachers about the advantages of incorporating Edmodo into our school. Like all online learning, Edmodo provides an opportunity for individual instruction to meet student needs. The one advantage of choosing Edmodo is the similarity in format to FaceBook. This will increase student speed with developing a comfort with the structure of the Edmodo environment. It is easy to implement, and will require only minimal setup from teachers to get started. My principal was excited by the ideas from the presentation (and also by the Prezi, she was not familiar with this presentation option!) and wants me to share the information with our campus technology committee. Amy:
That is great that your principal was so supportive. I have a principal like that too. It sure makes our job easier when they are supportive. My principal and assistant principal did not hear about PreZi either until I showed them. Good Luck with you share your information with your campus teachnology committee.
Lori
Amy~ It always make our lives easier when our adminstrators get excited about the new ideas we have. Good luck with your continued presentation. I look forward to hearing how this grows in your school and the impact it has on your students.

I did my presenation on Power Point. I asked a upper and lower grade level teachers to view my presentation. I found that this website would be beneficial for students in helping them to develop the 21st century skills, critical thinking skills, and collaboration skills. The benefits of using Moodle is students having the opportunity to foster their learning through the use of technology, to connect to the classroom anytime and anywhere, the enrichment of online collaboration using a variety of communication tools, and it customizes learning to meet their needs. It also gives them the chance to become self-directed learners. I also found that online learning can fill the gaps of teaching which is technology is providing a enriched learning experience, developing the critical thinking skills, creating individualized learning, promoting global awareness, and preparing students for the ever-changing society.
The teachers had two different views on it. One was willing to give it a try while one did not want give a try. They both agree that they did not the idea of not having face to ace time with the studetnts. One was aprehensive of giving free realm on the computer without much instruction. I do believe that most of the teachers will embrace some technology but I do think they will not embrace online learning as well.

Lori, Was the aprehensive teacher simply worried about the students using the technology correctly? It is unfortunate that not everyone can go through this program and see all of the benefits of incorporating technology. Amy West
Amy:
It was using the technology correctly but also it was not wanting to do much with technology. I agree with you that it is unfortunate for teachers who really do not want much to do with technology. They just do the minimum to get by.

After completing my presentation using Prezi on the online learning program Moodle, I presented it to a few staff members and two of my administrators to encourage implementation of online learning in our school. My administrators were very impressed with the presentation. They are very focused at moving our school forward and expecting the staff members to teach students skills to prepare them for the 21st century. Both administrators agree that this would be a large step towards that direction. They saw many benefits to implementing it in the school, but worry about staff members and parents reaction towards it. My colleagues on the other hand had mixed emotions. Out of the four I only had one teacher who was excited about the idea and wanted to know more. She is a new teacher and any of the latest concepts she learns she is very willing to try it in her classroom. The other three teachers we not very accepting of the concept of online learning. They do not like the idea of limited face to face with the teacher. Another anxiety from my colleagues was the students’ inability to get online or having access to the computer. With our school having about 25% of student population coming from a religion that have believes of limited access to technology the teachers felt this was a big concern. The last area of apprehension was feeling that our students were not ready for something like this they felt students would not be able to manage their time appropriately for the online learning to be successful.

I can see that you had the same results as I did. The principals were going to look on the website in more depth while my teachers had the same feelings as you. It will be interesting to know where this will go in our school.
Lori
Joy and Lori~ I find that if you can find the right people to get this started, hopefully others will see the impact is has on student learning and be willing to give it a try. It is so frustrating to see some teachers not even give it a glance. I find this to be true with some of the teachers in our school, but in other schools as well. With support from our administrators, it is nice to know that they are listening to what we have to say and are for helping to prepare our students.

For my presentation I used PowerPoint. I showed my presentation to an assistant principal, my department head and one of the teachers in my department that I work closely with. My department head and coworker thought Moodle would be a great addition for our students. The adminstrator that viewed my presentation is head of our instruction in my school. She seemed to like the idea of including moodle but she would have to see how district feels about adding it on a wide spread level.
For now we are going to run it to the other memebers of our department during our next meeting. We have a lot of struggling students and everyone agrees that our students could benefit from a program such as moodle. Hopefully a plan can be made on implementing a program such as this.

Gina's Presentation
For my presentation I used Power Point. I presented to my principal, assistant principal, a Kindergarten teacher and a third grade teacher. I split up the presentation into two different sessions. My first session I presented my power point to the group. I then asked them to go back and think about what I presented and to write down any questions or concerns they may have. At our next session a couple of days later, everyone was able to express any questions or concerns they have about online learning. There were some questions that I could answer and others that I was excited to explain and to get them excited also. The two teachers that I presented to were very positive about this new concept and trying it in the classroom. These two teachers are fairly new and look for various ways to enrich student learning. The administrators were also very interested, yet aprehensive in getting all teachers to use this in the classroom.
As a result, I will present my slide show to the staff and see where most of them stand in trying this in their classroom. I will create a pamplet that will answer any questions they may have and find the answers to additional questions they may have. I would like to get this started in my classroom so I have a better understanding myself before I try and present it to the other teachers. Once they see the positive benefits of online learning, I look for student success to continue to grow.
Gina: I wish I would have done what you did as far as having the people think about and then come back with questions. I didn't have a lot of questions, so I wish I would've given people more time to explore the sites and come back with questions.
I gave my presentation at the start of our weekly staff meeting. I spoke with my principal and she allowed me ten minutes at the beginning of the meeting to give the presentation and field questions. The presentation went well, and quite a few of my colleagues had already heard of online learning management systems, or had experience with them through their own learning with online college courses. My colleagues seemed receptive to my presentation, and they all held their questions until the end of the presentation. At the end of the presentation there were only a couple of questions, and they were about how to find the websites and how to sign up.
After the presentation there was a brief discussion of putting the online learning management system implementation on the agenda for the school’s steering team. The steering team will meet and discuss possible future implementation of a online learning management system for the entire school. Since cost is not an issue, the only issues would be with the district administrators and getting the go ahead from them, and there was talk of possible licensing issues.
